hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry is a prestigious magical school located in scotland, teaching magical arts to young witches and wizards. it sits on a high cliff that overlooks a great loch, unplottable by muggle eyes. hogwarts' motto is: "draco dormiens nunquam titillandus", meaning: "never tickle a sleeping dragon."

there are approximately one thousand students attending hogwarts at any given time. upon arriving at the school on 1 September, students are sorted into four houses: gryffindor, hufflepuff, ravenclaw, and slytherin, based on the qualities and aspirations of the student. houses are rewarded with points for good behavior, quidditch match victories, and so forth, while points are taken away for wrongdoing. at the end of each term, the house with the most points wins the house cup.

New Posts Second Floor

You won't find very much on the Second Floor at Hogwarts, save for the Ancient Runes Classroom, but it is said by the students and staff that in the old bathroom at the end of the corridor, you will find a particularly emotionally-distraught ghost who has taken up residence there. Hurrying off to Ancient Runes Class? Don't be late, now! Here on the Second Floor, you will find: The Ancient Runes Classroom, Classroom Twenty-Three, and Moaning Myrtle’s Bathroom.

New Posts Third Floor

Like the Second Floor, the Third Floor isn't visited frequently by students outside of classes, but it isn't Moaning Myrtle's fault this time. Instead, it is because of the corridor at the far end, which students are forbidden to enter. But the curious workings of the mind cannot be helped. Don't get caught snooping. Here, you will find: The Hospital Wing, The Charms Corridor, Gunhilda of Gorsemoor Corridor, The Trophy Room, The Armor Gallery, and The Forbidden Corridor.

New Posts Fifth Floor

On the Fifth Floor, students tend to schoolwork, chat with friends in unused classrooms, or pester Prefects about missing gobstone sets. It is busy, especially because the students enjoy the solitude of the empty classroom, and of course, just love to bother their House Prefects. Here, you will find: Classroom Eighty-Four, The Prefects’ Lounge, The Boys' Bathroom, and Cathetel Glareid Bathroom.

New Posts Sixth Floor

The Sixth Floor is a rather narrow corridor, where students can be seen rushing to and from the Arithmancy classroom with their heavy textbooks and tattered parchments, while others visit the universal common room down the hall, permitting students of all houses to enter. With lots to do and see, the Sixth Floor is a favorite at Hogwarts. You will find: The Universal Common Room, Glanmore Peakes Corridor, and The East Wing.

New Posts Castle Towers

The Castle Towers are always difficult to reach, due to the height of the spiraling staircases that lead to them. Honestly, how do students manage to climb those stairs every single day? However, the trek is worth it, as the towers provide some of the most breathtaking views of the castle and its grounds you will ever see. Here, you will find: The Astronomy Tower, The North Tower, The Gryffindor Tower and Common Room, The Ravenclaw Tower and Common Room, The West Tower and Owlery, The Stone Bridge Tower, and the Clock Tower.
