Dave bit his lip, shaking his hair out of his eye and stepping forward to look up at the huge castle before him. It was daunting to finally be here – the place where Harry and Jude had always been so popular and that in itself made the young boy's stomach flip like a dead fish. Despite this, there was a small thrill of excitement in the pit of his stomach as he thought of everything he could learn here; experiences that he could never even dream of and it was all before him.

He smiled shyly at the blonde girl who had sat herself in the boat with him and was rattling on like there was no tomorrow. There was no doubt that she was stunningly beautiful and he decided to ask her later if she might have veela blood in her.

For the moment, however, he was excited at the idea of entering the Great Hall, even if the thought of standing in front of all those people being judged and wearing a hideous hat did make his stomach drop. His mother had told him about the ceiling in the Great Hall and he was certainly interested in seeing that. Dave had always been fascinated by magic, even as a young child, when he used to beg his mother to do spells, just so he could watch. The thought of being able to do magic whenever he wanted within the walls of Hogwarts thrilled him.

He almost wanted to grip the girl's hand and he might have done if he thought it wouldn't be a little bit weird. When the doors to the Great Hall swung open, he had to focus on not doing anything stupid. He watched as the girl was sorted into Hufflepuff, a smile on his face, though he missed her presence with him. He gasped when he heard his name and made his way shakily up to the stool with the hat on it, praying that everyone in his year had good hygiene.

there's nothing hidden in your head, the sorting hat can't see...

AGE / DESIRED YEAR. 3rd year/14

BLOODLINE. Pureblood.

Dave's hair obsession is kind of scary. He loves it more than, well... Anything else, really. It's dark brown and in fairly perfect condition. He has a long sweeping fringe that falls into his eyes most of the time because it is artfully styled to. His eyes are green for the most part, though they have a slight brownish hue. In essence, Dave takes exceptionally good care of himself – in fact, I'd go so far as to say he probably spends more time on his appearance than most girls. He's pretty short for his age, but he's desperate to get a growth spurt soon – he really couldn't stand being that short for the rest of his life, (though he probably will be.) He's also verging on underweight, mostly due to the fact that he really likes salad and hates fatty food. He's pretty inactive and would much rather exercise his mind than his body, but his worst nightmare would be gaining tonnes of weight. He's obsessed with fashion and dressing well and is always up to date on the latest trends. He's fairly camp and this creeps into the way he holds and conducts himself as a whole.

David has this façade about him that gives off the impression of great self-assurance, vanity and pride. Nothing seems to scare him and nobody seems able to affect him emotionally – he is a Gemini to the core. His mind is all over the place, talking about one thing one second and moving on to something totally different the next and expecting you to keep up, becoming extremely frustrated if you fall behind because obviously what he has to say is of the utmost importance and you're not even listening to him!

He's confident, lively, inquisitive and more than a little bit catty, and darling, you either love it or you hate it. He tends to throw small barbs into conversation on occasion, though they're so small that if anyone picked up on them, he would just claim innocence and they would look like the one causing a problem. Nothing gives him more satisfaction than a well placed dig for someone who deserves it.

Underneath all of this, however, he's very insecure. He feels he has to perpetuate a certain reputation because to him, the thought of being invisible is scary. Everyone has to know his name because if they don't know who he is, how can he? Fame is the ultimate dream for this boy, but he just doesn't know what he can do to make that happen. For now, he's happy enough being the school's resident gossip and in the future... Merlin, who knows?

James Knox married Sally Richards at the end of her father's wand. The girl had fallen pregnant with the first of three children six weeks into a relationship with the man and so the wedding was a rushed affair, not expected by either party. For this, James has always resented his wife and no love blossomed between the two.

David, the youngest, was the couple's last ditch attempt to have a daughter in the hope that it might bring them closer together. James had always wanted a little girl to spoil rotten and call his little princess but his wife couldn't even provide him with that. He has always held no small amount of resentment for his youngest son, cemented when the child began asking for Wilhelmina the Witch dolls rather than toy broomsticks.

Growing up with his two older brothers was an ordeal for the shy young boy whose only weapon against the ham fisted pair was his witticisms, which they, naturally, could not appreciate. He could easily beat them in an argument if they didn't tend to resort to a contest of strength before long. His brothers remain a great deal closer to each other than they are to him and he has always been seen as the runt of the family.

In his earlier years at Hogwarts, Dave was somewhat shy and had a very slight stutter; however when he turned up at the start of his third year, it was with an entirely new take-no-prisoners attitude that left many who had known him previously completely stunned. This act soon became a part of his personality and even he's not sure who he is underneath it anymore. The boy has come to cling to his front as a weapon against the rest of the world. He has a certain vulnerability beneath it all that very few are aware of and that's exactly how he likes it.

After all, if people don't know him, they can't possibly dislike the real him and that, above all, he is afraid of.

DESIRED HOUSE, AND WHY. I think Dave would do well in Ravenclaw. He has a sharp mind and a great interest in the workings of magic as well as a love of reading.

"Ah, such a troubled mind. You have a sharp mind and a great deal of wits about you, Mr. Knox, but there's a certain unpleasant side of you as well. You may not get along with others very well, but it never seems to stop you, only makes you push forward. Yes, I know exactly the place for you! It's all here in your head! Better be....RAVENCLAW!"

Congratulations, Mr. Knox! Now that you are sorted, you are ready to begin your journey at Hogwarts: The Revolution!

1) If you have not already visited Diagon Alley to buy your school supplies, you ought to do so right away! You may find the necessary equipment required for your year from your School Letter.

2) Be sure to register for classes! Simply fill out the form, and when you are finished, you can list your classes in your profile (My Controls > Edit Profile Info > Hogwarts Classes) so that your schoolmates can also see what classes you are taking!

3) To build relationships with other characters on the site (friends, enemies, acquaintances, love interests, etc.), create a plot page in the Character Plot Pages forum.

4) If you are interested in joining any Hogwarts Clubs (Quidditch, Dueling, Wizard's Chess, Gobstones, and the Frog Choir) then visit the Hogwarts Clubs forum, and sign up for the clubs that you want!

5) Now, you are ready to jump in and begin roleplaying at Hogwarts! Make new friends (perhaps a few enemies), and embark on your adventure! Classes are also a fantastic way to meet students such as yourself!

Welcome again, and happy roleplaying! If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of the administrators!
