Prefect Recognition List!

user posted image

We are kicking our previous system of choosing Prefects through a grueling application process to the curb. In order to make the feel of choosing Hogwarts Prefects more...Hogwartsy, we are going to allow members to write the name of their student(s) who they feel would make a good prefect, along with a short explanation as to why/what qualities they possess that would make them a good prefect. The H.R. Admins will then deliberate/discuss the candidates, and just like in the books, the chosen prefects will be sent an owl, notifying them of their new position! ** This list is not for Head Student consideration; Head Students will be chosen specifically by Admins, based on our own observations and who we feel would make good candidates!
KEEP IN MIND!
• Only one of your student characters can be a Prefect/Head Student at a time. As well, if your character is Quidditch Captain, they cannot be Prefect or Head Student.
• Head Students will be chosen from previous Prefects (except under very special circumstances), while Prefects will be chosen anew every year, except when there are no qualified candidates available, and then they may retain their position for the following year.
• Only students in their Third Year and above will be considered for Prefect positions; Head Students will be considered as needed. Most likely, Head Students will only be chosen from current Prefects as a promotion.
• Prolonged inactivity will result in your removal from the Prefect/Head Student position.
• There are Two Prefects per House - one boy, and one girl. There are Two Head Students per term at Hogwarts - one Head Boy, and one Head Girl.

PREFECT RESPONSIBILITIES!
1. Offer assistance to students with various issues (educational, social, etc.).
2. Put personal relationships aside and issue punishments (detention) when necessary.
3. Work daily patrol shift around the castle and grounds (and night shift every two days). Must also patrol the corridors of the Hogwarts Express at the start and end of terms. Curfew is promptly at 9 p.m. for all students.
4. Lead First Years to their dormitories after the Start of Term Feast.
5. Assist Professor Flitwick with decorating the castle during seasonal occasions (Halloween Feast, Christmas Feast, etc.)
6. Supervise students unloading from the train at the start of the term. Also attend a meeting with the Head Students upon boarding the train at the beginning of the term. Must patrol the corridors throughout the trip to and from Hogwarts.

HEAD STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Offer assistance to students with various issues (educational, social, etc.)
2. Put personal relationships aside and issue punishments (deduct house points/issue detentions) when necessary.
3. Monitor roleplaying threads for any illicit activity. Depending on the severity of the case, you may deduct house points as punishment. Likewise, look for opportunities in roleplaying threads to award house points to students for good behavior. Record all house points awarding/deduction in the Hourglasses Forum.
4. Work daily patrol shift around the castle and grounds, and night shift every two days (these times are for roleplaying purposes only; you don't need to actually roleplay patrolling daily/every two days!). Must also patrol the corridors of the Hogwarts Express at the start and end of terms.
5. Curfew is promptly at 9 p.m. for all students. If you catch anyone out of their Common Room after this time, you may deduct house points and/or issue detention(s).
6. Attend school feasts!
7. Supervise students unloading from the train at the beginning of the term. Also hold a meeting with the Prefects upon boarding the train at the beginning of the term. Must patrol the corridors throughout the trip to and from Hogwarts.
