hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry is a prestigious magical school located in scotland, teaching magical arts to young witches and wizards. it sits on a high cliff that overlooks a great loch, unplottable by muggle eyes. hogwarts' motto is: "draco dormiens nunquam titillandus", meaning: "never tickle a sleeping dragon."

there are approximately one thousand students attending hogwarts at any given time. upon arriving at the school on 1 September, students are sorted into four houses: gryffindor, hufflepuff, ravenclaw, and slytherin, based on the qualities and aspirations of the student. houses are rewarded with points for good behavior, quidditch match victories, and so forth, while points are taken away for wrongdoing. at the end of each term, the house with the most points wins the house cup.

Abernathy Poythress Corridor is one of the more popular halls at Hogwarts. Its high ceiling is constructed of stone, and there is a large statue of a plump, bald wizard wearing monk clothing, and a stern expression upon his face. This is a long, wide corridor that bends to the left, revealing another hall filled with cushions, tables decorated with lit candles, and shelves teeming with fascinating reads.

New Posts Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom

While the Dark Arts can be considered fascinating, there is also great danger involved when taken lightly. For this reason, Defense Against the Dark Arts was introduced as a mandatory course at Hogwarts centuries ago, to properly educate students about effective ways with which to protect themselves from harmful magic. Prefer the Dark Arts, instead? Too bad! You're going to need this course, if you intend to graduate - and not to mention, stay alive in the face of danger.

New Posts History of Magic Classroom

Have you ever wondered what sort of exciting events took place before your time? What famous battles were fought, and what famous witches and wizards roamed Hogwarts' halls before you? Nether have we. Joking, joking! Open your textbooks and prepare to learn! The History of Magic classroom is relatively quiet during lecture times, probably because of how insufferably boring it is - or at least, Professor Binns, the History of Magic professor, certainly is.
